Case Makeit.io

Our client, a US-based 3D modeling company, needed a secure way to deliver their work to clients and receive payment. Their major issue was unpaid work, with 15-20% of their projects remaining unpaid, costing them an estimated $100,000 annually. This led to the birth of Makeit.io, a secure, paid file-sharing platform.

Initially, we developed an MVP. It allowed contractors to upload their work, clients to preview them at reduced quality, pay for them, and download the high-quality versions. The system was browser-based, payment-method agnostic, and ensured fast and reliable file transfers. The tech stack included React JS, Laravel, and AWS.

Post MVP launch, we enhanced the product to Makeit 2.0. It evolved from a paid file transfer system to a simplified CRM system. It helped content creators manage their digital sales, with features like customer databases, data export capabilities, third-party cloud storage integration, and more.

Challenges surfaced during the integration of third-party services like Google Drive, Dropbox, and payment services like Stripe and PayPal. However, these were primarily administrative and bureaucratic issues, not technical.

Today, Makeit.io is a secure platform for selling visual content. The client plans to evolve it into a SaaS platform for subscriptions. This tool has the potential to revolutionize the lives of freelancers and companies by eliminating the risk of unpaid work.
