Ranking methodology

Increasing the transparency and honesty of the web development market by building a rating of web studios based on simple and understandable data for professionals and their clients.

Terms

Site — a set of logically interconnected web pages, also the location of the server content, with the help of which objects (information blocks, web forms, templates) are grouped for their joint display on the Internet.

Web Studio — any type of company that is professionally engaged in the creation and development of websites on the Internet.

WQI (website quality index) — this is an indicator of how useful your site is for users from the point of view of Yandex. When calculating the quality index, the size of the site's audience, the degree of user satisfaction, the level of trust in the site by users and Yandex, as well as other criteria are taken into account. Data from Yandex services are used for calculation.

Site mirror — partial or complete copy of the site. The presence of resource duplicates may be necessary for owners of highly visited sites to increase the reliability and availability of their service.

Methodology

The methodology is based on web studio projects (portfolio) - sites that have been developed, promoted and / or supported by the company. The ranking methodology is simple and clear. The more current projects, reviews, cases, awards in the portfolio of a web studio, and the higher the traffic and authority index of these sites from the point of view of search engines, the higher the developer company is in the ranking.

A global rating of web studios and local ratings by cities are being formed. Also, other ratings will be formed: online store developers, SEO companies, design and creativity studios, CMS and Framework.

Calculation formula

DEV (web studios, IT and outsourcing companies) +

The number of points awarded is determined by the following formula:

  • Number of positive reviews (1 review = 15 points)
  • Number of cases:
    - added within 365 days from the current date = 15 points
    - added over a year ago = 5 points
  • TOP case (1 case = 30 points)
  • Number of articles:
    - added within 365 days from the current date = 7 points
    - added over a year ago = 3 points
  • WQI of sites in the portfolio (1 WQI = 0.1 points, taking into account the WQI of all works on the service*)
  • Number of portfolios:
    - less than 1 year added = 5 points
    - added 1 - 2 years = 3 points
    - more than 3 years added = 1 point
  • The total number of works (50-2000 points)
  • Feedback rating (1 star = 1 point)
  • Negative feedback (1 feedback = -100 points)
  • Company domain age (1 year = 50 points)
  • Company verification (+500 points)
  • Awwwards Awards (HM = 100 points, ME = 150 points, SOTD = 250 points, SOTM = 550 points, SOTY = 1250 points)
  • WEB AWARDS (Website of the year in any category = 350 points, 2nd-3rd place = 150 points)

Important
  • At the moment, there are very few works with ICS > 2000. If your work with X > 2000, credited for it = 600 points for SEO work, 200 points for development work. To maintain a balance on the service.
  • At the moment, there are very few works on FB with subscribers > 30,000. If your work with Followers > 30,000, it will be credited = 450 points. To maintain a balance on the service.
  • At the moment there are very few works on IN with subscribers > 70,000. If your work with Followers > 70 000, for it will be charged = 350 points. To maintain a balance on the service.
  • Portfolio type: design and test subdomain - reserved for personal use only and to showcase your work that is not hosted on the real domain or not available for verification.
  • The higher the score, the higher the ranking.
  • All recalculations of points are updated once a day from 9:00 to 12:00

Participation rules

Any company that develops websites and has at least 10 completed projects launched on real domains in its portfolio can take part in the rating of web studios. To do this you need to register on the IT rating UA service and, through your personal account, add sites. For each site entered, you need to confirm the fact of the provision of services in one of several ways:

  • On the main page of the developed site, a link to the site of the developer's company should be placed. This can be any link that makes it clear that this company developed the site.
  • Create a special text file in the root of the site (the file must be available via the http/https protocol and return the server response code 200).
  • Add a special meta tag on the main page of the site.
  • Send editorial by fax or e-mail. Make a copy of the act of acceptance and delivery of works on the product site. The financial component in the transmitted documents may be hidden. Such confirmation is a paid service, since verification of each site requires an employee's time. Cost: 350 UAH for 1 site.

A web studio can hide the URL of the developed site and information about the client, if the developer has a non-disclosure agreement (NDA) with the client. In this case, the fact of confirmation can only be documentary evidence of the fact of the provision of the service. Cost: 500 UAH for 1 site.

The rating takes into account sites hosted on second- and third-level domains. In exceptional cases, participation of sites hosted on subdomains is possible.

For "mirrors" WQI is taken into account equal to = 0.

Do not delete the selected verification method on the verified site - because Periodically we will check for confirmation.

When forming a rating, the Administration can use information obtained from open sources.

As a part of the IT Rating service, TOP-100 leading web studios will be published. Information about all companies participating in the ranking, but not included in the TOP, will always be available in the catalog of web studios and other catalogs of the service.

Penalties

In order to minimize possible falsifications when submitting information, penalties have been introduced for companies providing false information:

  • The company bought a hyperlink (through the exchange or directly) on the site for which it is trying to confirm the fact of the provision of services.
  • The company, having access to the site, places a meta tag or file. At the same time, this company has nothing to do with the development of this site.
  • The company promotes the website and there is a hyperlink on the site that says this, but it has nothing to do with its development.
  • Data verification

    The administration requests from the web studio by e-mail the contacts of the client, who can confirm the fact of the provision of services. The administration contacts the client's representative and requests confirmation of the fact of the provision of services.

  • Fine

    In case of any evidence of the introduction of false information, penalties can be applied immediately after the discovery of the falsification fact.

    The site, for which the fact of falsification is proven, is excluded from the list of the company's projects, and, in addition, points equivalent to the corresponding indicators of the authority of the site that the web studio wanted to "add" to its account are subtracted from the total points in the ratings.
