Google shuts down web version of AI tool Duplex

Google is shutting down access to the Duplex on the Web toolkit. She announced this on her support site. The company will support the service only until the end of December 2022.

Google has already notified all partners working with Duplex on the Web that the service will be discontinued. The company decided to focus on improving AI voice technology instead of developing the Duplex on the Web service. Google introduced Duplex back in May 2018, and Duplex on the Web was introduced in 2019.

The developers of Duplex on the Web conceived it as a digital assistant to help with shopping. For example, a user wants to buy tickets to a movie or theater, the service had to open the desired site and fill in the necessary information, such as choosing an institution and a place in the hall. Then the powers of the assistant were expanded. With it, you could change your password, rent a car and check in for a flight.

However, the problem with the Duplex on the Web service was the small number of partners. Most likely, this is due to the safety and privacy of data in the service; business owners did not like the "layer" in the form of Google between them and their customers. However, Duplex itself will still work (without the web version).
